On a bright and sunny
day,
I was smitten...stricken
-I fell in love with
-I fell in love with
a paltry specimen of
this human race.
I let the fire rise
and bloom
I had to stay in contact with
him…
And here’s where the
foolishness came in!!
So, what’s the first
thing that a ‘lover fool’ tries to do??
…well she tries her hand at poetry
And this came
naturally, as I was a born poet
I was fast, faster
than the Cherapunji rains
And my e-mails flew
faster than the aircraft
Ah, truth has a slow,
delayed reaction
His response to me
was warm, caring, but definitely not loving. Sigh.
Yet I went along,
thinking that love will conquer all.
Little did I know
that 'love also has the power to turn the bravest woman into a raving fool'!!
Ignorance was my bower...
With an ache I found
he was a lover of my poems,
Which I mistook as a
love for me….alas!
The crumbling of my world still thumps
against my ears...
A foolish poet's imbecility betrayed my innocent love
Poetry brought me nothing
.....more than rejection
Oh...an ache still
lives within
An ache that does not
seem to die…
---
This is pure fiction***//Cherapunji is the wettest place in India.
Such beautiful words Panchalidi..really one sided love always aches a lot and the pain never dies..
ReplyDeleteGood to have you back, Ranita!! How have you been...? Long time....

ouch...not good...he loved your poetry, but not you...
ReplyDeletethat is a bit heartbreaking....
at least the ache (even if fictional)
brought out more poetry
but imagine it would be tough to write it knowing
the pain it brought you
hahaa...I am glad that I could throw him off his pedestal at last, he honestly did not deserve me! Smiles.....but, yes...he (the fictional lover) was indeed a great source of inspiration for a budding poet :P
DeleteThanks Brian, for that witty comment :)))
The folly of love, rarely do we receive all we want, that is the great mystery.

Deletethank you, rallentanda... :)))))
Well, truly, I could see how something like this COULD happen. But it was good for the poet at least that the (fictional) lover provided inspiration. I wouldn't doubt that there HAVE been situations where this kind of thing has really happened!!
ReplyDeleteOh you are right,.... such situations are not implausible at all, Mary. Thanks for the lovely comment... coming from you that quite a compliment....:))
DeleteGood words for this prompt. I like the direction it took.

Delete"Ignorance was my bower..."
ReplyDelete"The crumbling of my world still thumps

Pure poetry, loving, even kind to the fool in pursuit of love and writer who aides and abets with words, and true in the best sense of touching more people than you may know. Thank you.
Awww....I am thrilled to read your comment, Susan. Thank you for your detailed comment.. and for the visit and the prompt... :))))
Delete"truth has a slow, delayed reaction" ... how true !!!
ReplyDeleteSublime poetry. Would like to pint out one fact though. Mawsynram in East Khasi district is the wetest place & not Cherapunji.
Oh,I learned something today, Ashwani. And Mawsynram is just 16 kms away from Cherapunji.....Incidently, I have been to Meghlaya several times when my husband was posted in Guwahati, but have never been to Mawsynram.
DeleteThank you for your detailed comment.. and for the visit... :))))
