Oh Science, I hate Thee!!

Oh Science, I hate Thee!!

Some theories address
their own obvious desperation
So things ‘happen’…
Only a motley bunch of researchers
Capable of picking up the lowest hanging fruits
Get drawn with an insane precision
to the howls of science…
Bundles of molecules, atoms, electrons, protons –ecstatically bounce
Burst out their silver threads…the scientists see the light!

Sitting at the edge, in deep psychedelic trance
Unable to cope with the verisimilitudes; or is it
Fearing an unknown infinity
I keep sinking into a deluge of Absudities
Day lingers a while in its antics
          evening descends...heading to
penumbra of darkness
I wake up and scream, NO!
--there’s nothing!-nothing can exist at all- beyond me!
The human gene- is what? My atoms were made where?
Answers really matter little…
Science is hazy, misty, nebulous...
to purposeless, dimwit, visionless eyes.

  1. verisimilitudes---wow you pulled out the 10 dollar words here...
my problem with science is its in accessibility ... i think it is fascinating
the complexity of hte universe...by itself though, science can not answer those questions...

  2. "... the lowest hanging fruits..." "Howls of science" sinking ...
If it is hate and not fear that can spin such fine phrases and images, you just go right on hating science .... in your poem, though, I felt awe.

  7. Science is a gift, a tool to make a connection to the Great Spirit...the Almighty. It is not an end in itself . It is to assist us in acknowledging the wonder of creation and the universe.

    1. Yes Jae. I have read the book. Its packed with inspiring explanations of space, time and evolution, laced with humor and clever thought experiments,...a charming read!!
I am glad that Dawkins decided to write a popular science book to include people like me!! Thanks very much for that wonderful
