REFLEXES

Our reflexes
Move on purpose;
Sitting outside a Tea-stall,
I found myself leaning away
as speeding cars continuously raced by
skirting the pavement and passing alarmingly close;
nothing was seemingly intimate,connected to the past
History of an accident was a completely inane thing...
Long live the reflexes for survival--though their mysteries unresolved...!

Written for Poet's United -One-word-at-time challenge!This is a form of poetry where the first line has 2 words, the second line has 3, third line has 4 and so on....

  5. I think it is really disconcerting when one sees an accident happen. A person never knows when it will be his/her turn. I especially despise 'rush hours' and driving in snowy weather. "Long live the reflexes for survival" indeed!

    1. Mary, Thank you for being here and sharing your viewpoint. Yes, reflexes are the body's rapid defense mechanism. They should keep guiding us to 'duck' or 'dodge'in response to external stimulus...:))

  14. Hi Panchali ji,

    Ahh, poignant description of Reaction time of a driver. Indeed, reflexes are all that can be the difference between an accident and safe driving. Some people consider themselves to be a Pro and often resort to speeding, even on city roads. They forget that all it needs is just a split second of lapse of reflex and all is lost and gone.

    Lovely poem written, perhaps sitting at a tea stall?

    Regards

    Jay
