I do not like to live in the past,
But, allow my past to live within me.
Looking back at my life,
I’ve crossed paths
with so many people
who no longer
permeate my days.
I’ve blamed so many …
held
grudges against
-those who betrayed
-those who
tortured
-those who
hated
--those
who loved, even trusted me!
But today,
I perceive things differently…
We meet every person for a reason
-it’s not a chance encounter.
.. perhaps to test
us,
to teach
us,
or to
help us develop our own selves.
It is very easy to
live life
blind to the
signs and messages around us.
Once we begin
living in a
state of awareness,
a whole new, beautiful world is revealed.
So, I thank everyone!
"You have power over your mind - not outside events.
Realize this, and you will find strength.”
― Marcus Aurelius, Meditations
I love the Marcus Aurelius quote and your enlightened approach to life. Enjoyed this poem.
ReplyDeleteYes, awareness is the difference between a life of depression and one of gratefulness. Thanks for capturing this important difference: " I do not like to live in the past,
ReplyDeleteBut, allow my past to live within me."
Oh, this is life wisdom at its best. I love it, Panchali.
ReplyDelete"Once we begin
ReplyDeleteliving in a state of awareness,
a whole new, beautiful world is revealed." to be enriched in such realizations is the only beauty of life..it's a gem of a poem Panchali di...Thank you :)
How true your poem is as it is not only our eyes but our minds that must be open and receptive the world all around us.
ReplyDeleteLove this ❤ I too believe that we meet each individual along life's journey for a reason.. Beautifully penned.
ReplyDeleteOne were to reflect on what had been seen and heard, there was so much to be thankful for. Very true Panchali!

True growth is indeed being able to acknowledge and say those things - not sure I'm there yet!
ReplyDeleteI really REALLY like the idea of not living in the past but allowing the past to live in you! Brilliant idea really. I also like the mentality of not blaming. Easier said than done, but I really think this is a wise way to live.
ReplyDeleteYou're so right!
ReplyDeleteHello Dear Panchali!
