RESILIENCE~

The world is rich with terror
It's inside us     and all around.
The ticking clock tells me, I live
But, any minute could be the last.
A pack of fearless, vengeful men
  With stings in their tails
           are on the loose…
I have never met a militant
    But, have seen grieving people
      Spreading out the grave-sheets
            around the ‘slaughter yards’…
    The tired feet dragging corpses
of innocent men, women and children
    rattle my bones, get deep
    My head drops, albeit softly
Incognito
    I stand in one corner,
watch the ruins of human crimes.

But, with optimism firmly embedded in me
    I shake myself    think, re-think
Several attacks by the militants
       have provided searing lessons
on how to return to normal
     …amid shock, anger and anguish.
We have the power.
    - the correct attitude,the ability
       to regulate emotions within us
It takes resilience to keep the peace
     change course and soldier on.
The air brightens up and mind begins to clear

It's time to pray for humanity.
It's time to pray for the world.

  1. What a wonderful exploration of the quote - the most striking line for me was the fact that it takes resilience to regulate our emotions - so very true

Me, too. The role you give to resilience is true, but I hope the testing of that capacity ends soon, oh I don't know how they survive or if I could. I join in your prayer.

  7. How the majority would agree with you, sadly there are others for whom power, and wealth and religious bigotry are unfazed by the prospect of war, death and starvation. This makes me fear for the children of future generations.

  9. Oh yes, those closing lines! My friend, it must be very hard to live close to where such things are happening. It is hard enough to watch it on the news. Yes, we are resilient, but we are also sorrowing. Time to pray for humanity indeed.

  11. These scorpions want us to lose heart. Yes we need to be resilient. Fear and anger will not stem the tide- love will.
