I pulled
the laptop down
Rose from
the chair
Pedalled
off downhill…
A semblance
of energy
was a ‘necessity’!
I entered
a coffee shop,
-it was reserved for a book launch,
Shy in the midst of an erudite crowd
I chose a private corner,
sat
on a chair watching ….
Subconsciously,
I was yearning for a change,,,I knew.
Subconsciously,
I was yearning for a change,,,I knew.
The sun
had sunk,
evening taken hold
I looked
at the poster on display
The distinctive
logo of a broken pencil
on the maroon velvet background
seemed so appropriate… fascinating
I fell
in love with it
I looked
up,
-the regular spotlights were replaced
-turned humble for a change
Only the
book signing table had
a feel
good haze over the wrapped book
-half bound in crimson velvet
The writer… suddenly stood up
"Good Evening, everyone!", he bellowed.
"Good Evening, everyone!", he bellowed.
The voice
had the charm
to halt the boisterous congregation
His
words were subtle, burningly mnemonic...
There was a sudden hush
amongst the attentive audience
He started reading the lead paragraph..
Phrases kept clicking into my ears..
Words started playing again
the mysterious leitmotive in mind
There was a sudden hush
amongst the attentive audience
He started reading the lead paragraph..
Phrases kept clicking into my ears..
Words started playing again
the mysterious leitmotive in mind
Not knowing why....
I opened the door and let myself out….
I opened the door and let myself out….
-swept past before the door had shut behind.
