Tossing, Turning Night~

Smooth as deep mauve
   - murkiness,
silence ....thereafter...
make up a blanket of jet-black netting
around my bed every night....
I lie alone in the gorgeous setting

Curtains flap... flirting with the breeze
Thin swishing sounds sound like
   the sighs of spooks
I watch,

       alert eyed...
Swinging moon
        dragging the tether
Stretches on my white bed...
 Night smiles in insouciance
I butt my head in all directions
And start counting .....

..............the dolphins on seas
                       the grazing flocks
                            the meteor's pitter patter
Mind runs forward

        from one end time
              To the other...
Sleep comes
Circling the final countdown-

I steer through beauteous dreams

  4. How nicely you have described the long moments before the much awaited sleep finally descends steering one through beauteous dreams. It eludes some till dawn breaks.

  5. As someone who has bouts of insomnia periodically, usually in the middle of the night, I can totally relate to your poem - especially the different ways to find sleep. Very nicely expressed.

  7. Lovely as always. In the cloud of automobile smoke and haze rising as high as the high rise apartments, how many times do we see the moon these days?
