Days metamorphosed capturing transience of mothering
Time vanished before I realized--and today
when I have nothing to occupy on a long unpromising Sunday
when I have nothing to occupy on a long unpromising Sunday
I look everywhere for something of you, my girl..
Heaps of sounds and smells of memory return
there's no word that can fit this exhilarating feeling-
Ask me the price of mother's yearning-its priceless!!
Ah, a million thoughts roll back as I think of you
and... flash forward crimson smiles ..
Pausing a breath or two I often ask: 'Where's my little girl?'
I protected you from rain, sun, hailstorms and shocks
You gained years, grew unflapping wings---sought freedom
But, we never drifted apart-- the bond locked our hearts
So, we still share our anxieties, hopes, dreams, tears and prayers...
Soon I'll be old, worn out---help me end the long wait, my dear.
Give me a grandchild...- I want it as a toy
Lullabies of moon still rise under the night sky
I sulk all day- blind heart curves and coils wild in pace
Time, birth, new beginnings are some beautiful human moments...

Happy Mother's Day,
Eileen
An emotional plea from a mother to her daughter to become a mother.

These lines really signify what a Mother- daughter relation truly is; far apart yet near due to the bond they share!

ReplyDeleteBeautiful Panchali! The years do pass so quickly, my oldest daughter turns 33 on Thursday and she is expecting her first baby in July. My middle daughter will be 31 and my youngest 17, unbelievable.
ReplyDeleteYou have put it beautifully Panchali.Daughters are precious.Even after going through all the storms of their adolescence & our own growing dependence-they are there like a strong rock.
