Adieu Bibi~

Outside my windows in the east
  Is a Gulmohar tree;
Splashes of feisty red sway
… as the wind whispers through its leaves
A whisper…that carries the art of reminiscing
It uses a language, an energy of stillness
Unheard, but all conveying.
Sound is just a state of mind..
        settled, and secure, I understand.

Day is breaking…
I walk up to the tree
Sit on the crimson carpet,
My fingers sift through the scarlet petals
Memories of my deceased pet-dog (Bibi)
     light up for a day...
and then.... the hardest loneliness of all!
Absence is a fixed date in memory...

 'Bibi, rest in peace....
This Gulmohar- is a keepsake for my mind
To celebrate your birthday every year on March 7th.'

  3. Sadly poignant. Celebrating the life of a beloved pet, living or deceased, is important.

And a tree memorial is a little more, adding spirit and visual love.

    1. Oh, the grief is completely normal, and widely misunderstood by the (not-so-pet-friendly) people around !! Thanks Robin, for coming by....

    1. Ow...how sad! I completely understand...Because of the special relationship we have with our pets, grief can often be more intense than the death of a family member, and coming to terms with the change takes long!!
Good to see you here, Bekkie. Thanks for coming by... :)))

  12. Sound is just a state of mind.. is the stand out line in this poem for me - sometimes silence screams and loud is heaven... what makes it so? Maybe how we feel about something - which is beautifully conveyed here

    1. Jae, I guess, we make our in-capabilities to be paid back in full force thru them. Either we hear or try to filter them and make conscious choices or decisions.
You have sparked few ideas and they are running in tangents I could churn out 3-4 poems for me! A big thanks to you!! :)
