Mood In a Glass Pool~

The April sun squeeze
Like an orange in my glass
I sip the fire, drink…diving into its depths
Dribble bitter-spittle into my mouth- one last gulp
Slowly turn around.. the dark silhouettes gently start eroding,
heavy clouds droop--- I invite them
Just then, I see a streak of blue -ah, a kingfisher!
Bright bird, with swift blue wings gleam out
A thread connects its heart to my head- weaves a new hope
All begins- where all appears to end-  uproots turbulence
There's a fire in my soul reasoning all the time
It struggles to sublimate repressions so that I burn beautifully
and then waver and wane according to my own mood swings

Since color has such an impact on mood, it's important that we surround ourselves with the colors that soothe or perhaps enliven us, depending on the setting.

  4. Colours certainly influence our mood, as does the weather. Maybe my living in too often cloudy, grey Scotland explains the occasional bleakness of my poetic voice. Yours is bright and colourful - as amply demonstrated here.

It is always gratifying for a writer to find a reader who is able to read the unwritten emotion behind the lines. Thanks!!

  6. Amen! Color is definitely one of my passions and you have used it skillfully to express mood. When I was a docent I used to learn so much about children I toured by exploring their reaction to color. BTW, I just saw a kingfisher yesterday.
