Ciao!

A little girl
Came barefooted to my side
Urged me to tell a story
With a gentle smile;
I took her walking hand in hand
No-not to a prince or princess’s fairyland
But, addressed a subject
That’s often unrecognized
When friends drift apart,
 Wounds imbibe
It's generally ‘fight’ or ‘flight’ in sight
choose the latter; save yourself from a sorry plight
All too soon, you’ll get out of the hay
No explanation necessary for god's sake ….
If despite all, a relation doesn't click
Pack your bags; and see a flick
Dab your wounds with a gauze
rid unwanted gloom- and never pause?
Brevity is the soul of all wit
When it’s finally time- say ‘goodbye’ and drift
…wait for a new dawn, and never grieve.

Today, this was the most appropriate prompt for me to write on. I am going on a vacation and will be back on the 6th. Until then...ciao!

  3. i like the compassion in taking the hand of the little one....and the not sugar coating the fairyland but being willing to walk life a bit...it is good to bring along the next generation as well...they need adults to share their wisdom with them...

  8. I think it is important to explain to children about a fact of life.....that sometimes people DO drift apart. Yes, flght or flight: two alternatives. Probably best (as you said) to choose flight if a relation does not click. I have come to this conclusion as well. I didn't always have it. Experience in living leads a person to be realistic, I guess. I don't know IF children will understand...but we can try!

  9. When I was young, all girls were taught by their mothers, 'The first time he hits you, don't wait. Don't give him a second chance. Pack your bags and go. Come straight back home to your family.' What a pity this is not taught now!

  15. Letting go begins as early from the toddling age and the enormity only grows with age and time. Loved the way you played it. The rhyme sinks in the truth with a child's innocence.

    have a wonderful vacation!

  24. It is better to step aside rather than fight, right? Sometimes the hurt never goes away; sometimes it's the regret.
