TWO MINUTES-- THAT IS THE DEAL

This post has been published by me as a part of the Blog-a-Ton 29; the 29th Edition of the online marathon of Bloggers; where we decide and we write. To be part of the next edition, visit and start following Blog-a-Ton. The topic for this month is 'TWO MINUTES'.

Stay away from fleeting sensations of pleasure
Such pleasures are for the insanes,
They distort minds-- make people wrestle with life
Hearts pound, thoughts dry out;
Chaos becomes the distinct pattern of life
Temporary elation spreads evil.... so follow the right!

Listen to the inner voice, it speaks in soft tones
Crushes recalcitrant thoughts, brews incipient light
Solemnly with a gush, bypasses the cheating heart
It stirs the 'unconscious' shut in a semblance of sleep
Conscience is his other name---he's like a referee
He takes TWO MINUTES to perform this service!

Feel the fire within, with no guilt, weight of sin
The inner self has eyes you do not see; but, look for it
You will hear it thump; there's balm in its beats
Gracefully banish the bad....let distilled virtues embrace your heart
Truth has a slow, delayed reaction; its effect takes long to show
But, goodnesss ebbs away all troubles...often repays the worse!

Grip the time tight in your palms
So that life moves,.... and your life lives
Scrub out the grime that has accumulated in the mind
Work lovingly around the ridges and into the grooves
Till the stains are blurred; silent words come through to you
Be with your heart......be your own architect
Keep the echos intact, and the heart sympathetic!

  10. Panchali, I think I can be honest with you. The logic is not flowing as well in this poem as in your other writings. The last para defies the first para in its mood and appeal. The second para on beautiful mind is defied by the third para on butterfly mind.
    I await your masterpiece, Panchali! Make me comment in ecstasy!

  17. Stay away from fleeting sensations of pleasure

    They distort minds-- like lightening, strike;
    And when that happens, hearts pound, thoughts dry out;
    Ignorance becomes the anchor of life
    Temporary elation spreads nightmare.

    Listen to the inner voice, it speaks in soft tones
    . leaves us with no mess ...

  23. A lovely flow with words. But sorry, I cannot really agree with the content. i think it is in fleeting seconds, most of our memorable moments are recorded. I think guilty pleasures have their own arena of expression. There are no crisp boundaries between good and bad. the lines are blurred. I believe real happiness has nothing to do with being good or righteous. It about finding the thing that you want to do most and keep at it. You have a strong way with words. I would like to see a poem about something I can relate to- (like pain, happiness, loss, etc) rather than a piece of advice. (Rather a strong comment- But then It's just what I think...)

    1. Welcome to my space, Muthu!
      You humble me with your words of praise ...:)But..ooopss...that's honestly a strong comment! But, I like it. Normally, I prefer not to advocate...or write this kind of poetry. But, this time I did. Let me explain what made me jot down these lines...
      Well...we are fear driven, aren’t we…? Fear of losing out, of not being good enough, of being not happy; there are so many flavors. We are not in touch with the core of our being. All our power resides within us, untapped and unused.( that's purely my thinking, mind you!).. Instead of taking steps to unlock that inner-power, we operate from a shallow, surface level where we are at the mercy of any stray influences that come our way through the outside world. And we get swayed… disoriented… blinded… and get lost..Be Fair to Yourself--that's a small piece of advice from me... !:)
      What you say also makes sense. Don't get angry...soon you'll get to read a poetry of your choice...:D Amen!
      Hope you'll visit my space again...:))Thanks a bunch!!
