Hear The Silence~

The Sound of Silence

Walk into an anechoic chamber
Settle in the swivel chair
Exclude all external sounds
‘Tune to the Sounds of Silence’
 And then…
                 ….Observe
                            How the sounds …
                                              Rise
           To a dangerous pitch
Senses,
          Movement,
                           Odors,
                                      Colors,
                                                  Tunes
Often buried in the depths of noise
                                  ..Fill up the senses
                               Swell …
To the point of
                           Exploding!!
 Cacophonies stitch the senses…
                 And it strays the awareness
The soft rustle of leaf on leaf
                 Whispering trees,
                                        Oscillating time-piece,
falling flowers against weight of air
The steam rising from a pot of tea.....
                             Invade the ears

                                         ….mind hovers around inanities
Its an intimate moment, meditative
                                      Go ahead, touch them
                    They are overflowing...
                                                 overflowing...

Thanks Mary, for the wonderful prompt. (Though I know, I am late. )

  1. I love poems, and this is such a wonderful work. Thanks for sharing it. This reminded me of a incredible movie called 'Sound of Noise' (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1278449/). Do watch it if you can , and the poem will just fall in place.

  2. So true that so often NOISE takes up the spaces in one's mind. It is nice sometimes just to have that sound of SILENCE. Cacophonies (I love that word) can sometimes drive one mad!! Well penned.

(And, by the way, you are NOT late at all!!)

  7. Panchali, I love this and the way you wrote it falling in layers, like the layers of sound. The petal falling against the weight if air is a fantastic image. I too love to sit in stillness and listen to the sounds we usually miss. A beautiful poem! And Thank you for your kind words to me :-)
